The 2019-2020 priority guidance plan has been released, listing guidance priorities for the IRS and Treasury Department for the 12-month period from July 1, 2019, through June 30, 2020.
The priority guidance plan [PDF 97 KB] continues to prioritize implementation of the 2017 tax law (the law often referred to as the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” Pub. L. No. 115-97), and prioritize implementation of the Taxpayer First Act (Pub. L. No. 116-25) enacted on July 1, 2019.
- The 2019-2020 priority guidance plan contains a total of 203 guidance projects—of which 31 items have been released as of September 30, 2019.
- The appendix to the priority guidance plan also lists routine or ministerial guidance that is generally published each year.
In addition, the 2019-2020 priority guidance plan reflects the “deregulatory policies and reforms” described under Executive Order 13789 and Executive Order 13777.
The IRS release states that the priority guidance plan may be updated during the plan year to reflect additional items that have become priorities and guidance that is published during the plan year. Comments are requested with respect to items to be included on the plan.
